Teens Arrested for Allegedly Placing Bricks on Fort Street

arrested two teens for allegedly placing several items including landscaping bricks in the northbound lane of Fort Street at about 3:20 a.m. Aug. 20.

An officer reported a large amount of debris in the roadways at Fort and Emeline and Fort and Marian. Two officers removed landscaping bricks, wood and garbage that police said were "intentionally placed in a 50 mph traffic zone," according to a Trenton police report.

Police said debris had been struck and was scattered across the road along with car parts.

With the help of a witness statement, officers caught up with two teens carrying pieces of wood on N. Grande Way. When the teens saw the patrol car, they split up and ran, according to the same report.

An officer used a police service dog to find a 15-year-old boy who was taken into custody. A 13-year-old boy was later found and also taken into custody.

Police said a large pile of landscaping bricks similar to those placed on Fort Street was found in the direction from which the boys had ran and mailboxes were open and papers and mail were pulled out onto the road.

Both boys were transported to the Trenton Police Department where their parents were contacted.

At the time this article published, police said they had not received reports about injuries or complaints about vehicles damaged from the incident.
