3 Teens, Adult Arrested for Marijuana, Alcohol Possession in Trenton

The following information was supplied by the Trenton Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Trenton police arrested a teen boy and an adult man for possession of marijuana at about 12:45 a.m. Jan. 1 near the corner of Bridge and Maidstone streets. Two other teen boys were also arrested for minor in possesion of alcohol.

After witnessing "suspicious activity" a Trenton police officer made contact with three teen occupants of a small sport utility vehicle (SUV) and the adult driver of an orange Grand Prix parked on the corner of Bridge and Maidstone, according to a Trenton police report.

The officer said he saw two subjects sprinting away from a nearby house to the small SUV and the Grand Prix.

The arresting officer detained the three teens without a problem, and used the assistance of a K-9 police dog to detain the man. The man told police his friend lived in the house he was seen running away from, but he didn't know if anyone was home.

Police searched the Grad Prix and found a mason jar with suspected marijuana inside, a large glass pipe with marijuana residue and a digital scale inside the car. The man was placed under arrest for violation of the controlled substance act and placed inside a patrol car.

Police then made contact with the 16-year-old driver of the small SUV and the 17-year-old and 16-year-old passengers. The driver was found in violation of his graduated driver's license by operating a vehicle past 10 p.m. and having two passengers under the age of 21.

Police asked the driver to exit the vehicle. The arresting officer said he could smell an odor of alcohol on the boy's breath. The boy admitted to police he had been drinking, according to the same report. He was arrested and taken into custody for minor in possession of alcohol.

Both passengers were asked to exit the vehicle. The small SUV was search by a police dog. Officers found a black backpack located in the truck containing two mason jars with suspected marijuana, a box of sandwich bags and a bottle of vodka. Police also found a digital scale and a second bottle of vodka inside the vehicle.

Police said the boys smelled of alcohol. The two boys both refused blood alcohol tests and were placed under arrest and taken into custody for minor in possession of alcohol.

The three teens and adult were transported to the Trenton Police Station. The man and the 17-year-old boy were booked and lodged at the station, while the 16-year-old boys were released into their parents custody. The 16-year-old boy driving the small SUV was issued a citation for possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

The man posted bond and was released with a citation for possession of marijuana and the 17-year-old boy was issued a citation for minor in possession of alcohol.
