Residents Report Black Soot Falling on Trenton Tuesday

Chief Bruce Vick of the Trenton Fire Department said he spoke with a representative of Chrysler's environmental team to investigate black soot falling in Trenton.

Chief Bruce Vick said the Trenton Fire Department received several reports Tuesday afternoon about black soot falling from the sky and onto residences and vehicles in Trenton.

Bruce said he was contacted by an environmental team at Chrysler Group LLC who are investigating the soot.

Jodi Tinson, manufacturing and labor communications contact for Chrysler, said the soot was not coming from the Trenton Engine Plant.

Tinson said that although the soot is landing on the engine plant's premises, the source of the soot was unknown at about 12:30 p.m.
