Resident's Apartment Burglarized, Spray Painted with Obscenities

The following information was supplied by the Trenton Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A 51-year-old man reported he came home to find his apartment had been vandalized and several items were stolen in between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Jan. 11 in the 4800 block of Fort Street.

The man said he returned to his residence to find the front door had been forced open, several items were stolen and the entire apartment damaged.

Police said there were holes in the walls and letters were spray painted on the wall in black.

There were other areas in the apartment, including the refrigerator door and the main bedroom wall, where black spray paint was used to write obscene words.

Food was removed from the refrigerator, thrown on the floor and smeared onto the walls of the apartment.

In the living room the couch had been ripped in several spots and a table and television stand were broken, and in the kitchen cabinet doors were broken off and painted.

In the bathroom the sink had been pulled off the wall and the toilet busted open. Water flooded the bathroom floor and nearby hallway and leaked into the basement.

The bed in the main bedroom was broken. Clothes were thrown “all over” in the main and spare bedrooms according to a police report.

The man said several items were also missing from the apartment including a 50-inch flat screen television, laptop, digital camera, Nintendo Wii game console, jewelry box containing two rings, a gold bracelet with a cross and a gold chain, several clothes items and $300 cash.

The man told police he suspected a 35-year-old girl, whom he was seeing, might be responsible for the damage and theft.

He said he only knew the girl’s first name and he was only seeing her for a few days.

The man said the woman showed him the apartment and wanted to move in with him, but when the man refused to allow her to move in the woman became “very upset,” according to the police report.

The woman called his cell phone and was very “abusive and threatening,” according to the same report.

Police searched a database and found one woman who fit the man’s description. The information was passed on to the detective bureau for further investigation.
