Police Say Train, Car Involved in Wreck in Trenton

A passenger car hit a train at the railroad tracks at Fort Street and Van Horn.

No one was injured after a man crashed his car into a train at Fort Street and Van Horn Road at about 10:50 a.m. Tuesday.

The man did not require medical attention and went home after the accident according to Lt. Debbie Petraska of the .

A resident living in the area said she could hear several train horns at about the time of the accident.

One resident, Becky Swan Szalay, said she walked over to the scene of the crash.

"(The) train was stopped on the tracks and about eight police cars were on the scene," Szalay said. "...The car was pretty mangled up but the drivers seat was intact."

Police said the roads were clear less than an hour after the accident took place.

Though little information was available police said the accident involved a passenger car and a train.

The car was totalled and towed away from the scene according to Petraska.

Petraska said more information regarding the accident would be available in the next few days, after the accident report is reviewed and released by the Trenton Police Department.

No charges have been filed.
