Trenton Police Say Man Posing as DTE Employee Attempted to Access Elderly Woman's Home

Police are looking for a man who attempted to gain access to a house by posing as a DTE Energy employee at about 1 p.m. July 24 in the 1700 block of N Trenton Drive.

The home owner, a woman in her 80s, sent the man away after he requested access to a gas meter inside the house.

The man was described as about 30 years old, white and well dressed. He was not in a DTE uniform, but did provide some form of identification to the woman.

The woman, concerned for here safety, called her son who immediately called police.

Police said they contacted DTE who confirmed the man was not an employee.

Police said residents should check for proper identification and be sure employees are wearing the appropriate uniforms for the businesses they represent.

Police asked residents who see a man who fits the above description or a person(s) attempts to access a home unlawfully to call the immediately 734-676-3737.
