Police Investigate Counterfeit Money

Police confiscated a counterfeit bill found by an employee at the Trenton Engine Plant.

A counterfeit $20 bill was found in a parking lot at the Trenton Engine Plant.

Police responded to a call about a counterfeit $20 bill at about 8:45 a.m. March 25 at the Chrysler LLC Trenton Engine Plant, 2000 Van Horn Road.

A security officer at the plant told police an employee found the bill in the parking lot of the plant and turned it in to security.

Police said the bill was obviously copied. The rear of the bill was upside down when compared with the front, and the ink on the bill had gotten wet and was running. The bill had also been poorly cut.

The bill appeared to be cut from a larger sheet with other fake $20 bills, police said.

The security officer told police the bill was found in the first parking slot on the northwest side of the employee parking lot at about 2:30 a.m. the same day as the report.

Police do not know who attempted to fake the bill.

The bill was confiscated and logged in to evidence.
