Police Blotter: Crimes That Kicked Off the New Year

New Year's Eve was filled with partying, fun, excitement and crime.

Here are reports from the describing crimes committed on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Stepdaughter steals money order

A 49-year-old man reported to police his stepdaughter stole a $500 money order out of his apartment at about 7 p.m. Dec. 31 in the 1500 block of Marie Street.

The man said his stepdaughter lives in Flat Rock, but has a key to his apartment.

The man’s 19-year-old son was in the apartment at the time the stepdaughter entered the apartment at about 3 p.m. that day. He did not see her take the money order, according to a Trenton police report.

The man said he contacted in Trenton and spoke with an employee who confirmed the money order was cashed at the store.

Rock thrown through resident's window

Someone threw a rock through the southwest corner window of a 46-year-old woman’s house between 5:45 and 8:40 p.m. Jan. 1 in the 1700 block of Clyde Street.

The woman said her 21-year-old son left the house for about three hours and when he returned he noticed the window and screen were broken and a large rock was just inside the window.

It did not appear anyone gained entrance to the house, according to police.

Nurse says someone stole from her at her job

A 23-year-old nurse told police someone stole $275 out of her purse as she made her final rounds between 6 and 7 a.m. at the Aberdeen Nursing Home, 5500 Fort Street.

The woman said someone went into her large black purse located in nearby hall and took the cash out.

Trenton police said a copy of the surveillance video of the hallway had not yet been discovered.
