Police Blotter: Broken Toilet Lands Man in Hot Water

The following information was supplied by the Trenton Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Police were called out to a McDonald’s, 1581 Van Horn, after someone broke a toilet inside the restaurant bathroom at about 10 p.m. June 6.

The restaurant manager told police that four people, whom police said were between the ages of 18-23, were in the restaurant when one of the male patrons began to cause a disturbance. The man was moving chairs and being loud.

The man became angry when the manager asked the him to stop.

Two women left the restaurant during the disturbance and the man went into the men’s restroom, from where the manager said “they could hear a loud crashing noise as if something was being broken.”

The manager said when she went into the men’s room she saw the man and a broken toilet.

She said the man then ran and jumped into a Jeep from which she was able to write down the license plate number.

As she was copying down the number the woman driving the vehicle got out and cooperated fully, because she said “they did not agree with their friend’s actions” and they agreed to wait for the police.

The man then fled the scene on foot.

Police did not find the man, but were able to get a description and partial name from his friends. The man was said to be between the ages of 18 and 19 and was from Southgate or Wyandotte.

The toilet was a 3.5-gallon commercial Kohler and was broken beyond repair.
