Man Arrested After Allegedly 'Looking for Ghosts' at Former Riverside Hospital

The 18-year-old Allen Park resident told police he had heard the former hospital was "haunted" and "was looking for ghosts," according to a Trenton police report.

Police responded to a trespassing complaint after a witness allegedly saw two people exit a vehicle and enter the fenced off property of Riverside Hospital.

Police found the alleged vehicle and confirmed it belonged to an Allen Park resident.

As police were patrolling the area, a witness waved down an officer and stated that two people recently ran off the hospital property heading north on Church Place.

Police caught up with a man who was breathing heavily on the corner of Church Place and Helen Street. The man identified himself to police and said he was walking from his residence in Wyandotte to .

Police matched the man's last name to the last name of the owner of the vehicle and found them to be the same. It was also discovered that he lived in Allen Park, not Wyandotte as he told police.

When police asked him what he was doing at the hospital, he said he "had heard it was haunted and he was looking for ghosts," according to a Trenton police report.

Police arrested the man for trespassing and transported him to the Trenton Police Department. He was then issued a citation and released on personal recognizance bond.

Though the man initially told police he was alone, he later told them he was with another male and gave police that man's name.
