Investigators Identify Body Found In River

The body of a man found in the Detroit River has been identified.

A near Trenton on June 8 has been identified as 25-year-old Orlando DeShawn Coleman.

After a thorough investigation, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office positively identified the body on June 22. The man was found between Celeron Island and Sugar Island, according to Paula Bridges, media spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Office.

The man's death is being ruled a drowning.

Investigators believe the body, which was badly decomposed, had been in the water for several months. The Sheriff's and Medical Examiner's offices were able to gather medical information, including dental records, and other details from members of the man's family, Bridges said.

Bridges added the Sheriff's Office has no definitive information as to a home address for the man. He was periodically homeless.
