Grosse Ile Free Bridge Reopened After Nonfatal Accident

Trenton police blocked all bridge traffic after a car crash in which a car came to rest on a railing on the Grosse Ile free bridge Tuesday morning.

Trenton police reopened the Grosse Ile free bridge at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday after removing a vehicle that came to rest on a railing following a car crash on the bridge.

Deputy Chief Steve Voss of the Trenton Police Department said though the scene is clear and the bridge is no longer blocked, an investigation into the cause of the crash continues.

Voss said preliminary reports indicate that one of the drivers might have had some type of medical issue while crossing the bridge, which caused one of the two vehicles involved to cross the center line and strike the other car.
