Drunken Driver Crashes Into Vehicles Stopped at Train Tracks in Trenton

The following information was supplied by the Trenton Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Trenton police arrested a 36-year-old man after he allegedly crashed into a car stopped at railroad tracks, while a train blocked the road at about 9:40 p.m. Feb. 22 in the area of Van Horn and Division.

Police said the driver struck one car at a very high rate of speed, causing the car to be pushed off the road. The man's car continued on to strike another vehicle and pushed it into a third.

There was an 800 foot long line of cars waiting on the train at the time of the crash, according to a Trenton police report.

A Trenton police officer approached the man's car and found the man alone with a laceration on his head and blood on his face and shirt. The officer said the man smelled of alcohol and his speech was slow and slurred.

There were no signs of skid marks on the roadway that would indicate braking prior to the crash, according to the same report.

The man was transported to Oakwood Southshore Medical Center where a blood alcohol test was administered. He was released from the hospital pending the receipt of a warrant after an evaluation is completed on blood taken during the test.

Police said the man had a prior conviction of operating under the influence of liquor in 2009.

There were no other injuries in the crash.

I know the driver he slsmmed into. A young 22 year old who just got off of work at the Chrysler Plant and he was hurt. He was also taken to Southshore. The whole thing is messed up. I pray it doesn't happen a 3rd time!!!

Hopefully he'll be behind bars, before he kills someone! I hope the other innocent victims are ok?!?!
