Clips: Trenton Police Chief Honors Fallen Heroes for National Police Week

National Police Week 2012 runs from May 13 to 19.

Trenton spoke about National Police Week from his office at the Tuesday, and Nardone made it clear--police week is incredibly important to him.

"Today is May 15, 2012, which is National Peace Officers Memorial Day," Nardone said. "We like to recognize those officers, and the families of those officers, that gave their life in the line of duty."

Nardone recalled his recent trip to Washington D.C. for the 24th annual candle light vigil for fallen police officers held on May 13.

"There was candlelight vigil, a ceremony and a roll call of the names of all the officers (across the U.S.) that lost their lives ," Nardone said. "I believe there's about 19,600 names on the wall."

Nardone visited Washington D.C. to participate in annual events honoring police officers and their families.

Nardone said he also wanted to recognize Robert Pare, a former Trenton Police officer, who made the ultimate sacrifice on Feb. 9, 1968.

Pare's picture hangs in the lobby at the police station.
