City Employee Charged With Racketeering Waives Preliminary Examination

A City of Trenton employee waived his right to a preliminary examination of the evidence Friday.

A City of Trenton waived his right to a preliminary examination of the evidence against him Friday before Judge Michael McNally at 33rd District Court.

Kevin James Sargent, 35, of Grosse Ile will go directly to Wayne County Circuit Court. A trial date has not been set.

A preliminary examination of the evidence for another man with similar charges, thought by police to have worked with Sargent, was adjourned for 9 a.m. March 30.

Charles Richard Sanders Jr., 46, of Gibraltar is a Flat Rock police officer thought to have been taking bets from his patrol car, while on duty.
