Recently on Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch, one reader expressed his dismay for recent news on the site.

Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch user Ron posted this comment:

"Would be great if Patch could focus on more stories like this. These reflect all that is good about our community. Negative reporting really serves no purpose. Thank you for pointing out the positive things about our great town."

So, we decided to provide a place where Trenton and Grosse Ile residents can share positive items about their communities.

If it's positive community news you want, this is place. Tell us in the comments what has made you smile recently or what you are feeling good about. We will keep this column going as long as the positive thoughts continue to be posted.

Jason and Nate, thank you for taking issue with this. While I realize none of us are immune from crime and we would expect to hear about a felony criminal act committed in our community. However, I don't feel that someone spray painting graffiti on a power box or similar petty crimes are news worthy. As I have said, there are plenty of good news stories and other community related events to report about. Quiet honestly this is why I subscribed to Patch in the first place. That being said, it was refreshing to read Patch this morning. Keep up the good work and continue seeking out the positive good news stories about Trenton.

How about a story on every winner of the trenton awards last week? I only saw one. It's a start

Trenton High School Interact Club along with the Trenton Rotarians (and the THS National Honor Society and Student Council) packaged 10,000 meals for the foundation "Kids Without Hunger" this past weekend. The specially measured and packaged meals serve 6 adults or 12 children. The meals will be shipped to various countries in need. 600 of the 10,000 meals were kept locally and will go to 3 different food pantries to help needy families.

Ah, sounds like there is a lot of positive things going on. These are the things we generally never hear about. Thanks again Patch. Hope you can focus and highlight these types of good news stories on a regular basis.

This might be small, but while heading around the block to my parents the other day I noticed what I presume was a small city tractor with the brush attachment on the front clearing the sidewalks and walkways through McLouth park. Little extras like that make this a nice area to live!

What kind gesture. Thanks cccharlt! --NS
