Trenton Fire Marshal Goes Back to School, Graduates With 2 Sons

Trenton Fire Marshal Jeff Evans said he wanted a degree in public safety because, "it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it."

At 51 years old Trenton Fire Marshal Jeff Evans walked across the stage at Sienna Heights University to collect his degree in May.

Meanwhile, Evans' two sons, Bryce and Dain, were doing the very same thing. The three Evans men graduated from three different universities about three weeks apart.

Jeff Evans received his bachelors degree in public safety, Bryce Evans, 25, received his bachelors degree in game design and programming from ITT Technical Institute and Dain Evans, 22, received a bachelors degree in film and video from Columbia University.

Jeff Evans said he was proud of his sons and of himself.

"I'm just glad it's over,"Jeff Evans said.

Jeff Evans hopes to teach firefighting classes at Wayne County Community College District. He aslo received a certification to be an instructor from an unrelated program.

"It's a good thing to have in my back pocket," Jeff Evans said.

Bryce Evans currently works for an engineering firm and Dain Evans hopes to produce and direct documentary films, according to their father.

"It all just kind of fell into place," Jeff Evans said. "It was kind of strange to have everything work out the way it did."
