Why:  American Military Working Dogs deserve our deepest appreciation and respect in times of peace and war, serving with honor under the most difficult circumstances, and making sacrifices that many of us cannot begin to imagine. Caring for our Military Working Dogs is more than a way of thanking them for their service. It is an obligation to those dogs who have risked their lives to defend their handlers and to protect our freedom. They have given their unwavering devotion to their handlers, and we must keep our covenant with them.

And to Encourage all citizens to acknowledge and support our four-legged soldiers and nationally honor all of the Military Working Dogs and K-9 Veterans of all wars and to thoseK-9s and Handlers who protect us during peacetime.
