Why Should People Vote for Me Instead of the Other Candidates?

Referee Ramsey is running for Wayne County Circuit Court. http://www.kellyannramseyforjudge.org

Because I am THE candidate in this race with judicial experience. Twenty years as a referee and five years as a prosecutor.

Because I know how the law works- and what it takes to make sure it works all the time for everyone. With a larger voice I can make a difference in more lives.

Because my life experiences mean that I understand the challenges faced by many who come into my courtroom. I lost my mother at a young age and it changed everything. I ran away from home and married way too young and divorced soon after the birth of my only child. At 19 years old, I was a single mother and a high school drop out. Over the next 10 years, I graduated from high school, college and law school, while working and raising my daughter.

Because I have shared many of the life experiences of the people who come before me, my life’s journey has provided me the wisdom and understanding of the issues of those who appear in my courtroom. I understand how to overcome personal tragedy, and my experience on the bench has proven to me that the cycle of generational neglect can be broken.

Because for over 20 years, I have taken the time every day to understand the facts of each case before me – the parties and the history. I take the time to guide everyone who stands before me in my courtroom and empower them to seek the best in themselves.

I believe we need Tough Love for Wayne County NOW.

Counsel Sean K. Kowalski sent a letter to the Governor on my behalf when I previously applied for an appointment to the bench. I have always felt greatly honored by this praise and it is to this standard that I aspire every day to conduct my courtroom.

“Frankly, I have absolutely no knowledge of Referee Ramsey’s personal life, except for that which she shared with litigants in the context of a case. But what I have seen of her professional abilities force me to take the time to write. She brings an obvious understanding of the stories behind the people who stand before her. This understanding produces respect. The respect in turn infuses her praise with meaning and her criticism with credibility. In short, she “connects” with the men, women and children whose lives come before her.

Because she cares about the litigants, she works hard for them. Her courtroom, her staff, and her decorum all reflect the work ethic of someone who values, not disdains helping trouble families.”

I urge everyone to do their homework and vote the entire ballot on November 6.
