Smallmouth Bass And Warm Weather For Anglers This Weekend

A variety of fish are out in the river and Lake Erie for anglers this weekend, with limits being done on walleye and perch in places.

A variety of fish are out in the Detroit River and in Lake Erie, and with clear weather expected for the weekend, anglers can expect good fishing, according to Trenton Lighthouse owner Frank Chakrabarty.

He said that sheepshead and catfish were out in the river, but the most notable fishing is smallmouth bass, which he said are being caught off of the Elizabeth Park docks and banks.

“Walleye are a little spotty, but the guys are doing limits,” he added.”Everyone I’ve talked to has been saying the same thing: the fish are there, but there aren’t a lot of guys out there.”

Further south, perch limits are being done around the Fermi power plant and Brest Bay, in 22 feet of water, and walleye are also nearby Fermi, in 24-28 feet of water.

Water temperatures are hanging mostly in the low 70s.
