High Temperatures Hurt Fishing Along River

High water temperatures are slowing down fishing along the Detroit River.

Though fishing is alright on the river this weekend, the water heating up could pose problems to anglers going forward.

“The water is getting really warm,” said Frank Chakrabarty, of the Trenton Lighthouse. “If this keeps up it will drive the fish out of the river.”
He said that there appear to be a lot of catfish in the river, along with carp. Anglers are also catching walleye, muskie, and perch, though he reiterated that fishing is only “half decent” right now from the heat.

Silver bass have also been found going south into Lake Erie, around Sterling State Park.
