Great Escape: Have Fun Kayaking the River

If you're looking for a great way to relax this weekend, look no further than kayaking on the Detroit River.

The Friends of the Detroit River have teamed up with Riverside Kayak Connection to create their first annual Kayak the River event to be held on Saturday, Aug. 20 at Riverside Kayak Connection, 4016 W. Jefferson in Wyandotte.

Each session will have a tour guide. The sessions are:

• 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Detroit River Tour

• 12 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Paddle the Canal

• 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Detroit River Tour

There will be a hotdog social from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Each tour costs $20. Space is limited, and those interested can call 734-285-2925 for reservations.
