Friday Fishing Report: Fishing is Heating Up

The fish are finally starting to bite.

Fishing action around Trenton is heating up alongside the weather, according to the latest Michigan Department of Natural Resources fishing report.

Walleye fishing remains strong, with local fishers finding success with jigging minnows, plastic worms, as well as rapalas after dark.

White bass are also in the river now, though it is currently “catch and immediate release” season in Michigan waters. Along the shore, carp, catfish, bullhead, and suckers are making appearances, and northern pike can be found in shallower areas with the water warming up. Crank baits, spoons, and large minnows are recommended for that action.
