Five Things to Know Today: June 6

A handful of things to get you going in Trenton today.

Here are five things you need to know to start your day.

  1. It seems the heat wave is about to burst with isolated thunderstorms today and tonight. The National Weather Service has given a 30-percent chance of thunderstorms during the day and a 60-percent chance overnight. It's going to be mostly cloudy with a high temperature near 80 degrees.

  3. There is a Trenton City Council meeting today at 8 p.m. at .
  4. The Trenton High School varsity and teams did not advance to regionals over the weekend. The Trojans were upset by Carlson Saturday morning 4-3 at Carlson's home field. The Trojanettes beat Carlson 14-0 in the first game, but lost to Riverview's Lady Bucs 3-1 in game two.
  5. The boys golf team advanced to the regional round with a third-place finish at districts June 3. The Trojans' score of 331 propelled them into regionals June 9 at the Grosse Ile Country Club and the girls soccer team captured a district title with a 1-0 win over Allen Park in the district final. The Trojanettes travel to Chelsea to play Dexter in the regional semifinals June 8 at 3 p.m.
