Fishing Up Amid Clear Skies This Weekend

With walleye and perch picking up and silver bass holding steady, the Detroit River should be set for prime fishing this weekend.

After a stormy week, the weather should be clearing up just in time for anglers to hit the river this weekend.

In addition, it looks like fishing action is going strong into the weekend, as well.

“We’re doing better for fishing,” said Frank Chakrabarty, owner of the bait shop. “I’m surprised how well the silver bass is doing.”

Yellow-bellied perch and walleye are also picking up, he added, saying that it looks like there are good opportunities for fishing. Weed beds near the river mouth seem to be where much of the perch action has been happening.

Catfish are in play closer to the Lake Erie Metropark, for those anglers who prefer fishing off of the shore.
