Diamond Jack Cruise on Detroit River Prepares for Redux

PNC Bank & Trenton Rotary partner to raise funds for 'Roar on the River'

As the weather breaks away from the hot and humid temperatures that plagued the area in July, the organizers behind the PNC Bank “Roar on the River” boat races hope cooler temps will re-heat interest in the Diamond Jack Detroit River Cruise fundraiser that was originally intended to run Fourth of July weekend.

“The fundraiser was originally scheduled for July 3rd but was postponed due to impending storms,” said Bill Jasman, spokesperson for the event. “The original intent was to help with the expenses for the bands at the boat races, which cost more than $5,000.”

On August 27, you can have a great time and support your community on a fun-filled night spent cruising the Detroit River. The 3-hour cruise will depart from the Pier 500 dock in Wyandotte and take riders to the Ambassador Bridge and back.

The cost of the event is $30 and includes Tim “TJ Monte” Montemayer spinning your favorite tunes while you munch on pizza and relax on the deck of the historic Diamond Jack. An afterglow party at Pier 500 will begin immediately after you disembark. The boat leaves the dock promptly at 7:30 p.m.

“This is a community event sponsored by PNC Bank and the Trenton Rotary to provide downriver citizens with a premium show,” added Jasman.
