Clear Weather Should Make for Good Fishing

Calmer weather over the weekend should make it easier for anglers to catch silver bass in the Detroit River.

Despite a rainy week, fishing conditions should be better with the anticipated stable weather over the weekend, according to the latest Michigan Department of Natural Resources fishing report.

Frank Chakrabarty, owner of the bait shop, agreed with that assessment, saying “we’re looking at a real good weekend” for fishing. He added that anglers in boats out on the river have had recent success catching silver bass.

The bass are also out in force in Lake Erie near the mouth of the Detroit River.

Walleye fishing in the area has started to slow down, with fishermen switching to nightcrawlers for bait Chakrabart said.

Shoreline fishing is still a bit slow, but there are reports of fishermen catching catfish offshore using shrimp as bait.
