Baseball Field Named After Longtime Trenton Resident, Recreation Commissioner

Trenton Mayor Kyle Stack fought back tears as she dedicated the baseball field at Slocum Park to longtime Trenton resident and recreation commissioner Clarence "Bud" Ennis.

Ennis, 84, received the honor on the same baseball field where he once played for Slocum-Truax High School nearly 70 years ago,

"It is with great delight that we recognize one of Trenton’s finest citizens tonight," Stack said.

Friends and family gathered behind home plate to cheer for Ennis as members of the Trenton Baseball Association revealed a sign donning Ennis's name to be hung on the fence backstop at the ball field.

The ceremony marked the first baseball game of the season.
