TV's Grand Event Hires Wine Expert from Wyandotte for New Venture

David Reno, owner of the former Winedotte Wines, teamed up with the owner of TV's Grand Event in Trenton to pair food and wine.

David Reno calls himself a caviste, which is French for cellarman or wine expert.

After Reno's former business, Winedotte Wines, closed in July 2012, he decided to take his expertise for wine and apply it toward a new wine program at TV's Grand Event in Trenton called Grand Cru Wine Vault.

Grand Event owner Victor Stroia hired Reno to be the director of all things wine-related on March 1.

"When I was doing Winedotte Wines, my business was becoming an event business, with wine tastings, and I needed a venue where there's a kitchen," Reno said.

Though Reno said he sold his former wine inventory, the wine at the Grand Event is on par with his own personal selections.

The new wine program is part of a new focus on pairing the perfect wine with gourmet food.

"The background of the staff for fine dining is unsurpassed in this area," Reno said. "We're trying to put together a dynamic team of food and wine people."

Patrons can experience Stroia's wine venture first hand at premier food and wine-pairing event at 6:30 p.m. March 20 at TV's Grand Event. Guests can sample a new menu, while enjoying select bottles of wine.

Tickets to the event are $40 and reservations are a must.

Go to the TV's Grand Event Facebook page or the Grand Cru Wine Vault Facebook page for more information.

TV's Grand Event is open from 4 p.m. to midnight on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
