How did your business get started? When my father passed away in June of 2012 I decided to honor my family I would open a shop that would incorporate all the things my family loved. My father did woodworking, my mother loved to do crafts and my grandmother was a knitter. We all loved to decorate our home and make it a cozy retreat. I have learned so many things from my family that I wanted to take the talents they instilled in me and do something productive with it.

What products does your business provide?
The shop offers consignment furniture and home décor items. All styles, from antiques to contemporary, are in our inventory. But, we are so much more than just furniture. If you find a piece of furniture you love but is not the color you need, we will paint it the color of your choice. We also are starting classes in mosaic tile setting, flower arranging and painting techniques. Feathers Nest furnishings also is planning special events, such as wine tasting in November.

What do you want your business to be best known for?
Feathers Nest will be best known for our outstanding customer service. Our customer service is friendly and we will do everything we can to make shopping with us an experience to look forward to. When you enter our shop you will be offered water, coffee or tea and if the staff is eating donuts you will be eating donuts along with us. We want you to feel like family when you come to this shop, it will be a truly unique shopping experience.

What's your most popular product?
Our new paint to order furniture seems to be becoming a popular service we offer. Also, if you are looking for a specific piece of furniture or a certain style of decor, we will look for it for you.

Why did you choose the location that you did
? I was raised in Trenton and moved out of state after I graduated. I came back to Trenton 12 years ago because this is where my roots are. I like the area and wanted to offer Trenton a unique shop with consignment furnishings at a reasonable price so anyone in the Downriver area could afford to decorate their home with lovely furnishings.
