Trenton Business Puts the 'Gift' Back in 'Re-Gifting'

Janet Livernois, 46, said people walk into her house on Grosse Ile, take one look around and ask, "Where do you get your stuff?"

"I've decorated and filled my whole house with resale items," Livernois said. "People love my house."

In July, Livernois took her interest in finding unique and original resale items to the public when she opened Wise Designs, 3240 W. Jefferson Ave., in Trenton.

The quaint store located in the Colonial Corner building is filled with interesting home decor pieces including everything from furniture to holiday decorations and from original pieces of art to small statues.

Livernois said she finds her "stuff" at estate sales and resale shops across the State of Michigan.

While Wise Designs has something for everyone, Livernois said a large portion of her customer base are young people looking to decorate their first home and people looking for unique, original pieces.

"I buy things things that I like," Livernois said. "I'm very eclectic. I like a little of everything."

Customers can find items that can fit any type of design -- from modern to rustic and everything in between -- and that can fit any budget. Items at Wise Designs typically start at about $5.

Wise Designs is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
