Rachel Broderick, a customer relations representative for Trader Joe's, said the company's two-year plan does not contain locations in Trenton. Trader Joe's officials do not plan to build another location anywhere in Michigan.

Many Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch readers speculated reasons why Trader Joe's would not come to Trenton and, according to Broderick, there's no secret algorithm or specific criteria for an area to get a Trader Joe's location.

"We don’t really comment with any more detail on how we select our locations," Boderick said.

Broderick said the best thing for area residents to do is request a Trader Joe's location on the company's website.

Location requests are seen by Trader Joe's officials and tabulated. Though, Broderick said she could not comment on whether requesting a location online would help bring a Trader Joe's to Trenton.

"It's certainly possible," Broderick said. "It's not in the two-year plan as of now and nothing for Michigan for the next couple years."
