Patch Picks: Top Ice Cream Shops

The warm weather is finally upon on us, so beat the summer heat with a cooling sweet treat. Check out Patch's Picks for the shops that will make you scream for ice cream.

Trenton Patch has the scoop (get it, scoop?) on the top ice cream shops around town.

  • The Scene: Featuring a wide variety of ice cream inspired treats, desserts, and cakes, Trenton Ice Cream Shoppe is a local favorite for frozen treats.  While the kiddies are enamored with the clown ice cream cones, unbeatable waffle cones are an acclaimed favorite of all the “big kids” out there. Whether served in a cup, cone, or with candy in a tasty flurry treat, the wide range of flavored ice creams is sure to contain your fave.

  • The Scene: One of the largest soft serve franchises in the world, DQ has been a beloved American indulgence for decades. Although they serve mouthwatering eats and refreshing drinks, it’s their creamy confections that are the only sweet tooth fix. From dilly bars to Peanut Buster Parfaits to their famous Blizzards, Dairy Queen treats are so good they are “RiDQulous.”
  • Sunday’s Ice Cream
The Scene: Opening its doors in 2008, this family-owned ice cream parlor carries the always delicious Guernsey ice cream, locally made at Guernsey Farms Dairy in Northville. If you’ve never tried this creamy frozen treat, your palate is in for a mouth-watering, refreshing treat. Sunday’s also sells half gallons to take home, as well as custom made and decorated ice cream cakes, to enjoy for days to come.
  • Bob Jo’s
The Scene: With great taste and great value, Bob Jo’s customers count down the days until this old-fashioned ice cream stand opens in the spring. It’s amazing frozen custard is unrivaled, while its atmosphere brings families back to the good old days. According to a repeat consumer, “Take a taste, close your eyes, and remember what it’s like to be a kid again.” Boasting sweet, delectable flavor, this summer-time treat needs no sprinkles or dips!
  • Stroh’s Ice Cream Parlour
The Scene: Enjoy the atmosphere of downtown Wyandotte while sampling a creamy dessert from Stroh’s. Grab a cone with one of 44 different flavors, or satiate your taste buds with a famous Sanders Crème Puff. For the health conscious, Stroh’s offers low-fat ice cream and frozen yogurt. Let your desired confection cool you off as you enjoy a stroll down the street or visit the waterfront.
