Patch Picks: Best Places to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day!

Where should Trenton residents head to celebrate St. Patty's Day, full of green beer, bagpipers and delicious Irish fare? Of course Mr. Nick's tops the list, but check out Patch's Picks for the best Downriver locations to celebrate the luck-of-the-Irish.

Here are the Patch Picks for the best places to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

  • , 1926 West Road, Trenton.
    The Scene: This Irish-themed pub promises its customers, “Good food, good drinks, good friends,” where every day is like celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. So head to this longtime Trenton favorite on St. Patty’s Day, starting at 11 a.m., for their traditional Irish grub, including corned beef and cabbage, shepherd’s pie, salmon, grilled cod and Irish stew soup. The green beer will be flowing, and in pitchers for only $6. A DJ will be spinning tunes from 8 p.m.-2 a.m., and their banquet room will be open for large groups to eat buffet style. 
  • Malarkey’s, 14980 Dix-Toledo Road, Southgate.
    The Scene: Celebrate St. Patty’s Day the Irish Way. Starting at 7 a.m., have breakfast with WRIF, and continue the day with live entertainment, bagpipers and the Bud, Miller, and Jager girls until 2 a.m. Offering specialties such as corned beef and cabbage, Irish beef stew and 23-ounce green beers, find out why Malarkey’s was voted the No. 1 St. Patrick’s Day Party by Channel 4 News. 
  • DoHickey’s, 232 Maple Street, Wyandotte. 
    The Scene: Green beer and breakfast are waiting for you at DoHickey’s beginning at 7 a.m. Irish Ale, Guinness and other Irish drink specialties await, with corned beef and cabbage, corned beef sandwiches, potato soup and Irish bangers on the menu to soak up the alcohol. Bagpipers will be entertaining patrons throughout the day, and partygoers can head outside to the tent for added fun.   
  • Dunleavy’s, 6004 Allen Road, Allen Park. 
    The Scene: The longest-running Irish pub in Michigan, Dunleavy’s is a true Irish bar. The party starts at 8 a.m. and promises great food selections such as corned beef and cabbage, Irish stew, and carrots and red potatoes, as well as Irish beers such as Guinness, Harps and Bass. Bagpipers and promotional company entertainment will contribute to the fun of this St. Patty’s Day bash. 
  • McGuckin’s, 20130 Goddard Road, Taylor. 
    The Scene: Don’t miss out on McGuckin’s beer special. Starting at 8 a.m., 16-ounce beers are 50 cents, go up 50 cents each hour, and max out at only $3. If the beer makes the shamrocks blurry, chow down on a corned beef sandwich or corned beef dinner with cabbage, potatoes, carrots and celery.  Celebrate with 89x’s live music at 8 a.m., while bagpipers and a DJ at night add to the merriment of the day.
