Miss Michigan Visits Trenton, Celebrates Gas Station Grand Opening

A new Citgo station opened in Downtown Trenton in late March and manager Mike Nassar celebrated his grand opening Tuesday.

With crown and sash in tow Miss Michigan attended the grand opening of a new Citgo station in Downtown Trenton.

Angela Venditti, 24, of Shelby Township, appeared as an official representative of Citgo, which sponsors the Miss Michigan pageant.

Miss America is the largest provider of scholarships to women in the world, according to Venditti.

Citgo manager Mike Nassar, his wife Daad and son Kareem welcomed customers to the event and encouraged guests to spin a prize wheel for a chance to win gas gift cards, t-shirts, lottery scratch-and-win tickets and snacks.

Mayor Kyle Stack kicked off the event with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

"The ribbon cutting went great," Mike Nassar said. "The mayor was awesome. She's very happy we invested in the community."

Felisha and her son Jordan of Lincoln Park visited the grand opening and spun the wheel for some tasty snacks.

Representatives of Citgo and the Corrigan Oil Co. helped Mike Nassar pull off the big event.

When she isn't attending grand opening, Venditti said her crown has allowed her to do several interesting and rewarding things including visiting children in the Children Miracle Network Hospitals.

"I get to meet a lot of kids," Venditti said.

She said the best moment during her time as Miss Michigan came when a little girl asked to put on her crown from a hospital bed.

"It lit up her day," Vendetti said. "It was very cool."

A new Miss Michigan is expected to be crowned in June and Venditti said she is currently looking for a new profession.

The 2011 Oakland University graduate would like to put her degree in communications to work in public relations.
