Elliott's Bakery Marks 80 Years of Downriver Sweetness

Elliott's Bakery on W. Jefferson has been a Trenton staple for eight decades, serving locals homemade goodies made by the family-owned shop.

The family-owned business first opened its doors in 1931, and this year marks a landmark eighth decade that the cozy bakery at 2636 West Jefferson Ave. has been in business.

Vidojedski and his staff said that while everything they make is delicious, the cakes and cookies seem to be the most popular.

Former Trenton native Joyce Jones agreed. "My husband and I now live in Florida," said Jones. "Every time we're in Michigan, we stop at Elliott's to buy dozens and dozens of their raspberry currant cookies for friends and family."

"We're a small, family-owned place that's warm and friendly, and people will stop in here before work every day for coffee and something to eat. It's kind of an old-time environment."
