Trenton Volleyball Team Holds Pink Out Game, Cancer Fundraiser

Students raised over $500 and all proceeds are going to KidsWithoutCancer.org.

Trenton varsity volleyball players took on Taylor Truman with a wall of pink on Oct. 3. Players wore bright pink t-shirts for the game to raise awareness for breast cancer and to raise money for the eradication of pediatric cancer.

Coach Lynn Oakley's team approached her about getting involved and the idea turned into a movement with middle school athletes also getting involved. Students had a bake sale and sold t-shirts to raise funds.

The pink out t-shirts were made at cost for the event by BGS Services of Troy.

"For high school students it is sometimes hard to think about others," Oakley said. "So when my varsity volleyball team said they wanted to be involved in a pink out game this year, I jumped at the opportunity."

Students raised over $500. All proceeds from the t-shirt and bake sale are going to Kids Without Cancer.org. Kids Without Cancer is a nonprofit organization that raises money that funds research studies which focus on diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and eradication of pediatric cancer, accroding to Oakley.
