Woodhaven Kroger to Close in June

A Kroger representative said the store was getting on in age and was a bit tired.

The Woodhaven Kroger location on West Road is set to close on June 22, according to Dale Hollandsworth, a consumer communications representative for Kroger.

Hollandsworth said the store is scheduled for closing because the store "is getting some age on it" and is "a bit tired."

"It's not the type of store we want our customers shopping in," Hollandsworth said.

The decision to close was made by a real estate team working for Kroger for the past year, which also took into consideration the potential for a remodel and demographinc data including foot traffic and local populations.

All Woodhaven Kroger employees will have the oportunity to transfer to nearby Kroger stores. No one will be laid off, according to Hollandsworth.

Hollandsworth encouraged customers to shop at locations to the south, east and west of West Road including locations in Brownstown, 23849 West Road and 20645 Gibraltar Road, and Grosse Ile, 8999 Macomb St.
