What did you want to be growing up?

Like every kid, I wanted to be a doctor or a baseball player, but when I was younger, I had the ability to come up with ideas in my head, and I had the hands to make those ideas come to life.

When did you get involved with DYPAC?

I got started with DYPAC in 2000.

How does DYPAC fulfill you?

Theater offers the ability to vent your creative side. For instance, I took on the task of creating the design for Lumiere, the candlestick from Beauty and the Beast. It was certainly a challenge, but I came up with a way to show the flames on his hands.

How does DYPAC benefit the community?

It offers an opportunity for kids. I can’t tell you how many shy kids show up for auditions, but can’t sing because they are so nervous. But by the end of the show, they’re outgoing. They’re a part of something. It’s redeeming to see this transformation in kids. It’s like they’ve been doing this forever.
