Viewfinder: Mother-Son Hoedown 2011

The annual Mother-Son Hoedown took place Tuesday night.

Mothers and sons look forward to their annual Mother-Son Hoedown hosted by the Trenton Parks and Recreation Department. This year it took place on Tuesday, April 14. The nearly soldout event featured dancing, pictures, and cookies and punch.

Wally Tackett from Wally's Sound Machine was the DJ for the Hoedown. He played some children's songs, including the chicken dance and the hokey pokey. A favorite seemed to be YMCA by the Village People. All the couples participated in the dancing.

Cookies and juice were served during a break.

Joann Perna, the assistant director of parks and recreation, Anna May Hawley, Corky Peck and Betty Schenavar helped the event run smoothly. They checked the couples in, served the refreshments and helped with the flow of the night.

The hoedown was less than two hours long, but that was just enough time for a great memory for both mother and son.
