Trenton High School sophomore Gabrielle Herin was selected to the Natural Resources Commission Youth Conservation Council for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Last year, the Department of Natural Resources put a call to find a cross-section of young people interested in Michigan’s great outdoors and in sharing their ideas about how to get new generations invested in the future of Michigan’s natural resources, according to a DNR release.

Herin was selected on March 20 among 17 other Michigan students ranging in age from 14 to 18 and hailing from all parts of the state, according to the release.
