Trenton, Grosse Ile Seniors to Compete in Downriver Senior Olympics

Here's a list of five things to know about the Downriver Senior Olympics.

The Downriver Senior Olympics begin Monday at St. Andre Bessette Catholic Church, 4239 W. Jefferson Ave., in Ecorse.
 
Seniors from Trenton, Grosse Ile are expected to participate in the five-day event. Last year, Trenton, Grosse Ile had several gold, silver and bronze winning competitors.

Here's a list of five things to know about the Downriver Senior Olympics.

  1. The City of Ecorse will host for the 1st time this year.
  2. Games include baking, basketball, billiards, bocce ball, bridge, bowling, car show, chili cook-off, darts, dance, euchre, football, frisbee, golf, horseshoes, running, pickle ball, ping pong, pinochle, ring toss, shuffleboard, soccer, softball swimming and tennis.
  3. The car show, music and chili cook-off will be located at the St. Andre Bessett Catholic Church parking lot.
  4. Swimming will be held at the Romulus Athletic Center on Wayne Road. Billiards will be held at Southgate Senior Center.
  5. Look for event results in the Downriver Senior Olympics website following the event.
