Sister Organizes Spaghetti Dinner to Help Late Sister’s Children

The aunt of three children who lost both their parents organized a spaghetti dinner to make brighter futures for the children.

A woman from Trenton is hoping the spirit of generosity that exists within her downriver community will shine through and help financially equip three children who recently lost their mother to skin cancer.

Julie Davis is organizing a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Friday, February 25, in honor of her late sister, Jill Neubert, to help raise money for these children who have had to endure the loss of both parents in a span of four years. Their father, Edward, passed away on Thanksgiving in 2006.

“The money that we raise at the fundraiser will be put into an irrevocable trust for the kids,” said Davis. “It will be used for the kids’ futures. We want them to use it for major purchases, like down payments on homes, or weddings.”

The fundraiser will be held at TV’s Grand Event at 2651 West Jefferson and will run from 6 p.m. until 1 a.m. Dinner will be served until 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 for children and $15 for adults. Following dinner will be a silent auction, with prizes ranging from a week’s stay at Boyne Mountain, to Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers tickets.

“Our goal is to raise $30,000 total,” said Davis. “That way, each child gets $10,000 to put toward the big buys down the road they would normally ask a parent for, but, unfortunately, they have none.”
