New Bridges at Elizabeth Park Bear Familiar Features

The original park bridges, built in the 1920s, were demolished in June.

Despite being only about halfway through the anticipated construction process, the bridges at Elizabeth Park were beginning to look familiar on Friday.

The new bridges bear a striking resemblance to the original bridges built in the 1920s, which were demolished in June after park officials deemed them unsafe.

Crews are working on all three bridges simultaneously, but each bridge is in a different phase of construction.

A bridge located near West Jefferson and Grosse Ile Parkway appears to be nearest completion compared to the other two bridges.
