Moms Talk Q&A: What Do You Really Want for Mother's Day?

Save yourself the trouble of returning that rust-colored cardigan and tell us what a mom really wants for Mother's Day.

Mom will always say, "It's not the gift, but the thought that counts." While that sentiment is wonderful, it is a universal truth that a thought is always more fun when accompanied by a brightly wrapped package.

With Mother's Day right around the corner, the question on every child and husband's mind is, "What do I get her?"

There's the usual: flowers, chocolates, a handmade card; the unusal: skydiving lesson or a gift card for plastic surgery; and the unfortunate: a new set of cookware or complete collection of Reader's Digest condensed books.

But what does mom really want? We're asking the moms of Macomb to share what's on their Mother's Day gift list, and please, make the thought count.

Is it bad that I would like the morning off from being a mom? Get up with the kids-take them out to breakfast or whatever and leave me a full pot of coffee and the paper. I will take care of the rest :)

That sounds great Meghan! Leave the cards on the table before you go, see you at afternoon naptime :)

Meghan, I totally agree! I'm going to have it made this Mother's Day! My amazing mother-in-law is taking my kids overnight Saturday night and my husband will be at a certain golf outing for the weekend, so I'll be sleeping in in a quiet house! Holla! Then my MIL will be dropping my girls off right in time for naptime, then we're heading to my Grandma's for pizza...so no cooking! I can't imagine a better day and it's seriously all I want.

Seems to me like this golf outing may be planned with Mother's Day in mind :) I forgot to mention that hubby needs to make sure the downstairs is clean before he leaves. I don't want to have toys staring at me making me feel guilty as I "veg out"

I am reading this post thinking of all the "things" I would love to have for Mother's Day. In reality just having my healthy, smart, beautiful children is all I really need! Motherhood itself is something I wanted so badly and after a while I was fortunate to be given that gift. I love when my children make be things too. My son always comes home with fabulous mother's day gifts from his school, and those presents are truly the best, and definitely put a smile on my face. For the husbands, I would love to come home to a house that just had a good scrubbing or a cooked meal. Now if my husband just HAD to spend money on me, I would love something that would contribute to helping me relax- maybe a gift card for a massage or facial ;)
