Moms Talk Q&A: How Do You Talk to Your Kids About Alcohol?

By Congressional decree, April 21 is PowerTalk 21 Day, the national day for parents to start talking with their kids about alcohol. How will you start the conversation?

Officially, April 21 has been named the national day for parents to start talking with their kids about alcohol, but not wanting to lose a minute of conversation, the Moms Council is tackling the subject a day early.

Just last week, the U.S. Senate unanimously approved S.Res.157, declaring April 21 as PowerTalk 21 day–the national day for parents to start talking with their kids about alcohol.

With prom and graduation just around the corner, the subject of alcohol is a timely one no parent can overlook. Research shows that parents are the No. 1 influence in their child’s decisions about drinking, but like the birds and the bees, alcohol is a topic few children look forward to discussing with mom and dad.

Our Moms Council will chime in with their advice, and we encourage members of the community to provide their own experiences as well as to ask additional questions related to the topic of underage drinking.
