MOM-ents: Cleaning is Overrated

I have had the last week off from work so I really had a great time spending some quality time with the kids and getting some much needed stuff done around the house.  That being said, I would like to give a big round of one-woman applause to all the stay at home moms out there.  You rock.

We attended three Easter egg hunts, spring cleaned the house, and hosted dinner for thirty on Easter Sunday.  The one thing that I really wanted to do this break was take a nap with my kids, but I was too busy for that to happen.  When they were sleeping at the same time (which was about twice) I had to catch up on schoolwork and do things that are hard to do with babies under toe (which is pretty much everything).

I am not sure how moms that stay at home do it.  I love my kids and I love being home with them-but I feel like when I am home all day that stuff needs to be getting done, and I think of work as my “out.”          People should (in my head) expect less of me because I am a working mom.  I would love to mop my floors weekly and have all my laundry done and be organized-but when I work during the week and I get home, I just want to enjoy my children and worry about laundry, etc. later (or never). 

So let this serve as a warning to you.  If you come to my house, more than likely there will be handprints on the windows and dust behind the television.  Your children should not drink from any sippy cup found in the toy box.  If you find a Cheerio on the floor, it is more than likely from today, but I wouldn’t guarantee it.  And if you have suggestions on how to get it all done and still not feel burned out, I would appreciate you sharing.
