Fort Street Bridge Over Rouge River to Close Friday, Detours Announced

The Michigan Department of Transportation will direct motorists to detours as crews replace the Fort Street lift bridge over the Rouge River.

Fort Street between Miller Road and Powell Street will close Friday as Michigan Department of Transportation crews continue to replace the 90-year-old M-85 bridge over the Rouge River in Detroit.

The latest phase of the construction is part of the $46 million project expected to finish before 2015. Local detours will use Dix Road and Oakwood Boulevard. Through-traffic will be routed to I-75 and Fort Street will stay closed until late December 2014, according to MDOT.
