Elizabeth Park Bridges Taking Shape in Trenton
New bridges are expected to emulate previous bridges demolished after they were deemed unsafe.
New bridges at Elizabeth Park in Trenton were beginning to take shape Friday.
Three historic park bridges were demolished in June due to a study that revealed evidence the bridges were deteriorating to an unsafe level.
The new bridges appear to be similar to the old bridges--as is the plan defined by Elizabeth Iszler, design manager for Wayne County Parks.
The new bridges were designed to emulate the same elegant style and Victorian architecture Trenton and Grosse Ile residents have grown to love, she said.
"It was very important for us to replicate them as close as possible to the originals," Iszlar told Patch.
The new bridges are expected to be complete by mid-November.
Do you think the new bridges are going to be as beautiful as the previous ones? Tell us in the comments.
