Demolition at Former Riverside Hospital to Begin Monday

City officials do not expect demolition to impact the surrounding area--except for minimal traffic concerns.

The first phase of a project to begin reusing parts of the former Riverside Hospital is expected to begin at 10 a.m. Monday.

Structures on the property set for demolition are the church building and the boiler room. Both are separate structures from the main building.

Trenton officials expected demolition would begin last week, but City Administrator Jim Wagner confirmed the new date Friday morning.

An abatement was completed on the structures to remove all harmful contaminants including asbestos in May.

Wagner said Tuesday demolition would not have an impact on the surrounding area and would cause minimal traffic concerns.

The project is expected to take about 10 days to complete.
